MEET THE FOUNDER
Hello, I'm Aminata Kouroma
One of my greatest joys has always been watching children discover just how capable they truly are. There is something extraordinary about watching a child who was once afraid to raise their hand confidently share an idea with the room — or watching a scholar who struggled with a concept light up the moment it finally clicks. That feeling is the reason The Becoming Academy exists.

My path here started in the classroom, first as an Early Childhood Lead Teacher and later as a Long-Term Substitute Teacher, where I learned that children rarely need just help with an assignment — they need someone who believes in them enough to make room for their questions, their mistakes, and their voice. In the years since, I've built a career in operations and leadership, but my heart never really left the classroom. At this point in my journey, I'm eager to return to a learning space and pour everything I've learned — as an educator and as someone who knows how to build systems that work — into a program created for children like the ones I fell in love with teaching.

My vision for The Becoming Academy is simple: I want to build the kind of place I always wished every child could have after the final bell rings — warm, safe, and full of adults who truly see them. A place where a child can ask for help without hesitation, try again without shame, and leave every single day a little more confident than they arrived.

"Every child deserves a place to belong, adults who believe in their potential, and opportunities to become all they are capable of becoming."
